Article on the event Singing the Dream
On Sunday, January 26, 2020, Temple Emanu-El, a nearly 100 year-old Jewish congregation and leading New England synagogue, will present Singing the Dream, a special afternoon of musical tribute to commemorate the great civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The concert’s chorus, conducted by Cantor Dr. Brian Mayer, will perform the East Coast premiere of I felt my legs were praying. The pieces is based on the words of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel reflecting on his march from Selma with Dr. Martin Luther King, combined with a text from Psalm 35, calling for us to work with our entire beings and bodies to work for social justice.
