This concert by the Western Wind will feature the world premiere of a new piece commissioned by them, And yet the light returns, to a poem by Rami Shapiro. The new piece is a reflection on light, as a central symbol for Chanukah and other winter celebrations, and its return at a times of darkness both literal and emotional.
The concert, “Home for the Holidays: From Darkness to Light,” will also include Christmas Music by Carrillo, Debussy, Ives, Poulenc; Hebrew, Yiddish, & Sephardic Chanukah Songs; Robert Dennis’s “The Ballad of the Harpweaver”, and and “Lazarus” by Martha Sullivan.
