We had an important celebration recently in our family, as our son Daniel celebrated his Bar Mitzvah.  It was an exciting time for all of us, and Caroline and I are very proud of Daniel.

In honor of his Bar Mitzvah, I wrote a new setting of Shehecheyanu, the blessing of thanks that is recited when we reach significant times in our lives or in the Jewish year.

The song can be heard by clicking above.

Shehecheyanu:

Blessing for reaching special milestones in life

Baruch atah Adonai Eloheinu melech haolam,

shehecheyanu v'kiy'manu v'higianu laz'man hazeh.

Blessed are you, Adonai our God, sovereign of the universe, who gives us life, and sustains us, and enables us to reach this day.
